If Geneva did not think it were Paris, it would be one of the most lovable cities in Switzerland. Pity is, this beautiful city thinks quite highly of itself as the avant-garde of Switzerland. Sharing 94% of its borders with France, Geneva (Calvinist and French-speaking) is the economic capital of a region it does not own. It is also the political center of many international organizations.

This unique conjunction of internationality and its high number of palaces haunted by the rich and famous give Genevans a sense of superiority over the rest of Switzerland. And the rest of Switzerland does not often think about it, only when from time to time it has to bail out the freespending council from bankruptcy, which happened last in the 1930s.
