Kaas, Patricia (1966 - ) France / Music star / ZH
Kaas

The French singer who has sold over 10 millionalbums has lived in Zurich since December 2000. Born in Forbach in 1966, Patricia Kaas is the youngest of a family of 7 children, whose father was an underground miner. Her gifted voice brought her to the stage when she was only 8 years old, performing songs by Claude François and Dalida.

When she was 11, Patricia Kaas became the idol of the Sarrebrück Rumpelkammel Club. In 1987, she landed an audition in Paris and sang her first single, Jalouse, produced by Gérard Depardieu. Didier Barbelivien wrote Mademoiselle chante le Blues for her, a hit that won her Revelation of the Year at the Victoires de la Musique awards in France.

In 1990, she released her album Scène de Vie and embarked on a world tour that drew over 650,000 fans. In 1993, the album Je te dis Vous sold over 2 and a half million copies, and the singer set off on another world tour, Tour de Charme.

Success continued with Dans ma Chair in 1997 (a million and a half albums sold) and Le Mot de Passe in 1999, in collaboration with Jean-Jacques Goldman.

In late 2000, Patricia Kaas moved to a spacious loft in Zurich, where she frequents other stars, such as American singer Tina Turner. They appreciate the calm, security and reasonable taxation that Switzerland has to offer. She continues to perform world tours and will make her acting debut in 2001 under the direction of Claude Lelouch.
